Anyone can lay pavers on dirt. In the Pacific Northwest, where the ground stays wet from October to May, that's exactly how patios fail: water softens the soil, the base shifts, and the surface heaves, sinks, and grows gaps. The work you never see — excavation depth, gravel lifts, compaction passes, edge restraint — is most of the job, and it's the part we refuse to shortcut.
Our rain doesn't just fall — it soaks. A patio built on a thin or poorly compacted base absorbs that water movement and shows it within a couple of seasons. We excavate to the right depth for the use (patios and walkways shallower, driveways deeper), build the base in compacted lifts, and slope the surface so water runs away from your house instead of pooling against it. If your project needs serious dirt moved first, our excavation crew handles it in the same job.
